The City of Humber bay reserves the right to change, modify, add to or remove portions of any terms, conditions, policies or disclaimers published on its Internet site. To ensure that you know what terms and conditions currently apply, occasional checks of this page are recommended.

Privacy Statement

The City of Humber Bay respects the privacy of its Web visitors. Our goal is to protect your information on the Internet in the same way we protect it in all the other ways we interact with you -- in our service offices or at your home or business location; through mail correspondence; and, on the phone. Staff adhere to strict policies that protect the confidentiality of any personally identifiable information such as names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. This Privacy Statement follows the Federal Privacy Commisioner’s Guidelines.

Specifics of how the City gathers and uses Internet information are outlined below. If there are any questions or concerns not addressed here, please e-mail our Privacy Officer. By using this site, you signify your assent to our Privacy Policy.

1. Access to the City of Humber Bay Web site, and use of many of its features typically do not require providing any personal information whatsoever.

2. “Cookie” technology captures summary - not individual - information on visitor use patterns. This is computer code that tracks “traffic” so we can determine how effective a given page is in meeting informational or service needs. Apart from providing a performance measure for the City’s Internet site, the data is otherwise meaningless.

3. A cookie contains no information that personally identifies visitors to the City’s Web site and is strictly geared to providing internal performance data. The City of Humber Bay knows nothing of an Internet visitors browsing path once he or she has left our domain. Cookies on the Humber Bay site expire after a period of 24 hours.

4. For online government transactions conducted on the city.humberbay.on.ca Web site, you will be asked to enter certain information about yourself and/or the organization with which you are affiliated. The specifics of this information will vary as required by the type of transaction and the governmental body involved. In each case, the information requested will include the same information that would be requested if you performed the identical transaction in person rather than online. Whenever personal information is requested from you on this site, there will be an indication of whether your disclosure of such information is mandatory or optional. Information collected in the course of the transaction is used for the following purposes:

- To conduct online transactions with the appropriate government entities (e.g., the payment of parking fines or the purchase of a pet license).
- To send you an e-mail confirming your transaction.
- To forward new product announcements or content features to you, only if you have chosen to request this service.

We may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personally identifiable information to the appropriate governmental authorities. city.humberbay.ca fully cooperates with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful.

5. Except under extraordinary circumstances, the city of Humber Bay will not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose to third parties the personal information you provide.

6. The City of Humber Bay website provides links to, and may be linked from, local, Provincial and federal government agencies, and from, or to, other websites. Humber Bay takes no responsibility as to the content policies or products on linked sites. By clicking on an outside link understand that Humber Bay’s Privacy Policies no longer apply.

Website Security

Information presented on the Humber Bay website is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested.
1. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
2. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction.
3. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under provincial and federal law.
4. This site uses a secure server for conducting online transactions. All credit card and other payment information that you transmit to us will be protected by 128-bit encryption technology, provided your browser is properly configured and your computer is operating properly. Security technology requires that you have a reasonably current browser that is capable of supporting 128-bit encryption. Current browsers such as these will activate the appropriate security features when you enter an online transaction through this site. In general, you can determine whether you are on a secure site by looking at the symbol at the bottom of your browser screen. You can be sure you are using a secure server if the key is unbroken (Netscape) or the lock is locked (Internet Explorer).
